Washington Monument Lighting 2013

It's one of the Baltimore Holidays must do events, so here's the rundown of everything you need to know about the 42nd annual Washington Mounment Lighting in Baltimore.

Everything kicks off at 5PM on Thursday, December 5th, with the official ceremony starting at 7.  There will be 4 different city choirs signing carols from 5:30-7:30PM.   At 7:45, the monument is lit, and the fireworks begin.  It should all be over just after 8PM.

While you can see the fireworks from any side of the monument (and the official address of the event is 600 North Charles street), it's really meant to be watched from the west park.  Lasers project on this side, and there's a stage setup on this side as well.

It's ok if you can't make the event, as WBAL TV (Channel 11) will be airing it live starting at around 7PM.  They use a helicopter to capture some amazing views of the fireworks, so check back here afterward for the video.  Here's the video from last year:

And here are videos from 2010 and 2009

Make sure to allot plenty of time if you're taking the Circulator, as the buses will be at full capacity for the event.

Here is the official  website for the event.
