Baltimore Blast in the Playoffs!

Could this be the year of Baltimore?  The Baltimore Blast ended the MISL regular season with a 10-6 win over the Milwaukee Wave, and now are set to play in the first round on Saturday, March March 9th at 7:35PM right here in town (1st Mariner Arena).  Get your tickets HERE.

2013 Baltimore Boat Show

With 21% of our state being water, it's no surprise that boating is huge around Baltimore.  This weekend (Thursday, February 28th through Sunday March 3rd), the Baltimore Convention Center plays host to the 2013 Progessive Baltimore Boat Show.  Sure you can go shopping for boats and boat supplies, but there's a ton more to see and do.  From Alligator wrestling to crab picking contests, there's something fun to see for everyone.  Try your hand at docking a remote-controlled boat, let the kids build a toy boat, or just stop by a seminar to learn more about any number of activities on the water.  You'll leave forgetting that it's still cold outside, but more ready for summer than ever.

Meet the Mascots!

Now's your chance to get up close and personal with the Mascots from the Orioles, Ravens, Towson University, and others.  The event will be tomorrow, Saturday February 23rd from 1-3:30PM at the Sports Legends Museum next to Oriole Park.  The only cost is entrance to the museum (which you should checkout anyway).  This is a "Behind the mask" event, so there will be a talk from the mascots themselves (sans masks).  Come hear the highs and low of this very unique career. Otakon Registration is Open!

Sure, the oldest and largest Japanese Anime convention in North America might not be until August, but you can register for the event starting today.  Join more than 30,000 fellow fans, and don't forget to attend in costume.  Register for Otakon before July 8th and you get $10!  Here's the link.

Everyman Theater Ticket Giveaway

Zero Litter Makes an Impact

We all know there's too much litter around Baltimore streets.  Now people are organizing to make a difference.  Yesterday in the Broadway East neighborhood, Zero Litter's Trash Mob cleaned up quite a bit.  Check out the video above, then check out their Facebook Page HERE to find out more about the movement (and to see upcoming actions).  By getting everyone involved and keeping more areas clean, we'll protect our waterways, reduce rodent populations, and make Baltimore more beautiful.

Max's Belgian Beer Fest 2013

This weekend (Friday, February 15th to Sunday, February 17th from 11AM to close each day) Max's is doing it's annual Belgian Beer Festival.  They stock the bar with over 200 brews on tap and in the bottle.  The best part is that it's completely FREE to get in.  Here's the website.  A VOTRE SANTE!

Tour Dem Parks Hon Registration Approaching

Registration opens on February 14th for this year's Tour Dem Parks on Sunday, June 9th.  If you aren't familiar, the event is a bike tour around some of Baltimore's cooler parks including Carroll, Patterson, Herring Run, and Druid Hill (among others).  If you're a serious biker, sign up for "Metric Century" which goes a whopping 64 miles.  If you're less committed, try the 12 mile "Family Ride" or choose a route somewhere in between.  You can find more info on the event at their official website.
