With the National Pinball Museum moving from DC to Baltimore, it was only a matter of time before I went to check it out. The Museum sits on Water Street next to Power Plant Live, in a building labeled "The Chocolate Company". Signage isn't great yet (I assume some nice neon sign is on the way), so you need to know what you're looking for. There's no mistaking where you are when you step inside though. The first floor consists of the main desk, lots of VERY old pinball machines and mechanisms, and a history of pinball room (we were unable to take pictures in this room). The second floor is where the fun is. You get the opportunity to play on machines from the 40s all the way up to modern(ish) times. I have to admit that machines like Jurassic Park, Barb Wire, Guns and Roses, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, and the Adams Family had me in flashback mode.
Prices are good for timed play, so I'd suggest it as a bad-weather activity if you're in the harbor with kids. When you buy a time amount, they issue you a card that keeps exact time (though they do add on an extra 30 minutes so you can look around the museum if you'd like). The card can be used on almost all the machines upstairs (there are 2 or 3 that take $1). Take a look at the
official site for more information. ON TO THE PICTURES!
