The Washington Monument in Baltimore (the original one mind you), needs your help in 2014. In January we'll see her wrapped in scaffolding for almost an entire year. With luck, she'll be ready for the monument lighting in December, but only with your help. Here's the website where you can donate. I can't wait to be able to climb up to the top again!

- The monument is marble outside, but has a red-brick interior.
- It's 178 ft tall. That's like lining up 356 large blue crabs (from point to point of the shell), which would cost you more than $1800 to buy.
- There are 228 steps to get to the top, meaning you have to do 456 steps for the round trip (no elevator inside this monument).
- The monument opened in 1829, making it 184 years old.
