Let's Eat Charles Street - This Weekend

One of the street festivals that seems to go "under the radar" is the Let's Eat Charles Street (which just so happens to be this Saturday from 12-5PM on the 300 block of North Charles st).  Why, I'm not sure.  It's actually pretty fantastic.  Partly because so many awesome eateries take part, part because there's good music, and part because you get to hang out downtown in the middle of the street.  Oh, and the Oriole bird goes every year!  Here's the official website for more information.

Fort McHenry Boat Tours

Starting this month, narrated boat tours will be going out of Fort McHenry every weekend until September 15th.  For $10 each ($5 for children 10 years old or younger), you can climb aboard and learn all about the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812.  Go where Francis Scott Key was anchored and looking past the British fleet to see if our Star Spangled Banner was still over the fort.  Tours leave hourly from 10AM-4PM.  $1 of all adult tickets sold goes to Friends of Fort McHenry.

Here's a great little video to check out about the tour.

SoWeBo Arts and Music Festival 2013

Have you been to SoWeBo yet?  The neighborhood with the crazy (but awesome) name is also home to a great music and art festival this Sunday, May 26th from noon until 8PM.  The festival surrounds Hollins Street Market, which is unfortunately closed on Sundays.  With over 75 artists and more than a dozen food vendors, there will be plenty to see.

Here's the link for more info:  http://www.soweboarts.org/festival.html

For bonus points, drive the 3 blocks west to Union square to see H.L. Menken's home at 1524 Hollins street.

Brew at the Zoo 2013

Want to have a great time while helping out the Maryland Zoo?  Brew at the Zoo is your answer!  The event this Saturday and Sunday from 1-7PM and includes unlimited sampling of more than 55 beers and wines (including two of my favorites:  Resurrection by Brewers Art and the Original Hofbrauhaus), live music, and great food vendors.  If that wasn't enough, you also get a full-day admission to check out the animals in the zoo.

Here's the official site for more details.
