• MD Zoo in Baltimore - FREE entrance on Tuesday, October 1st from 10AM to 4PM.
• American Visionary Arts Museum - FREE entrance on Wednesday, October 30th.
• Historic Ships - Quite a few FREE tours and presentations aboard the ships, but make sure to reserve a spot for most of them since there is limited space.
• USS Constellation on October 2nd, 6th, 19th, and 30th.
• USS Torsk on Wednesday, October 9th
• USCGC Taney on Wednesday, October 16th
• Lightship Chesapeake on Wednesday, October 23rd
• B&O Railroad Museum - FREE admission Tuesday, October 8th and 22nd from 10AM to 4PM.

• Baltimore Book Festival - Taking over Mount Vernon Place from the 27th-29th, come to meet your favorite local, regional, or national authors.
• Waterfront Partnership's Fall Fling - This FREE festival takes place on Friday from 5-8PM at West Shore Park.
• Natural Products Expo - Come down to the Convention Center from Wednesday, September 25th to Saturday September 28th.
• WWII Liberty Ship John W. Brown - Go aboard her until Saturday.
• Reel Big Fish will be playing a FREE show on Friday night at 8PM at Power Plant Live.

And a few things that go on every weekend that you should take part in:

• Zumba, Yoga, Boot camp, and Crossfit for FREE both Saturday and Sunday mornings at West Shore Park.
• The Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower does FREE tours on Saturday afternoon.

Go Aboard the Liberty Ship John W Brown All This Week!

Starting today, September 24th, until this Sunday, September 28th from 10AM to 5PM, you can climb aboard the Liberty Ship SS John W. Brown at the Weber Street Pier (Next to Little Havanas in South Baltimore).  This is your chance to board one of only 2 Liberty ships still afloat today (and the only one on the entire East coast).  If you're unfamiliar, The US built 2,710 Liberty Ships in 18 shipyards, including Baltimore's Bethlehem Steel, for World War II.  The ships were built at break-neck speed due to the overwhelming need for them during the war.  One was even built in 4 days and 15.5 hours...

Here's the official website for the ship.  The crew of the ship request a donation of around $5 to help with the upkeep and moving of the ship, but do not require it.

Go Aboard the Tall Ship USCGC Eagle

The USCGC Eagle is in the Inner Harbor (on the west wall near the visitor's center) this weekend.  Go aboard for FREE today and tomorrow (Saturday September 20th and Sunday September 21st) from 10AM to 7PM.

3rd Annual Reservoir Hill Music Festival

Reservoir Hill is playing host to a FREE music festival this Saturday (September 21st) from 11AM to 8PM.  Come enjoy the food trucks, art, kid's activities, and more!

Battle of Baltimore

199 years ago today, the British started their invasion of Baltimore (though fighting started on the 13th) with 19 warships and 5,000 ground troops.  Over the course of the 4 day battle, between 79 and 99 men died (including the invading General Ross) while between 376 and 384 men were wounded.  Baltimore did what Washington DC was unable to do, defend itself from British forces.  It proved a turning point in the war, and ultimately helped to end the war on better terms for the US.  Here's a great article where you can read a bit more, and make sure to make it down to Fort McHenry itself!

FREE Horse Rides at Druid Hill Farmers Market Today

From 4-7PM today (September 10th), City Ranch, Inc is offering FREE guided horse rides (donations are appreciated) at the Druid Hill Park Farmers Market.  Not only that, but you still have a great selection of venders for produce and services.  The MD Zoo will even be there with a few nocturnal animals to check out!

Rum & Reggae 2013

Coming back for a third year, Little Havana's is throwing the Rum & Reggae party this Saturday, September 7th from noon until 5PM.  Tickets are $15 ahead of time (Here's the site to buy them), or $20 at the door.  Rum lovers will enjoy sampling the different varieties (5 samples included with admission).  Also, UBER car service has a $20 discount code (RUM&REGGAE) for the day to help you get to and from the event safely.
